Premiere Educational Events Concluded in Houston, Texas and Liverpool, England

Recent Manufacturing Leadership Forum events in the United States and United Kingdom continue to drive the conversation around and direction of real-time manufacturing analytics and intelligence and their place in process manufacturing. Hosted by Northwest Analytics, these invitation-only events have captured the attention of leading global manufacturers with representatives in attendance from BASF, Shell, AkzoNobel, Air Liquide, Molex, IBM, and many more.

Keynote speaker Dr. Lloyd Colegrove, Data Services Director & Fundamental Problem Solving Director for The Dow Chemical Company, set the stage for the days’ conversations by framing the challenges encountered by Dow and others that can be addressed by the application of real-time analytics on existing process data. Dr. Colegrove and his team have been instrumental in driving the innovative application of statistical strategies into continuous and batch processing. Their leadership has been recognized by industry analysts with The Dow Chemical Company earning several awards including the Frost & Sullivan “High Achiever Award” for their operations analytics with enterprise manufacturing intelligence (EMI) project utilizing Northwest Analytics solutions.

With aging systems, disparate data sources, and a lack of process knowledge, manufacturers are struggling to make sense of their data. At these events, process data analytics visionary Colegrove shared with the attendees Dow’s journey to enterprise manufacturing intelligence (EMI) or simply put “making the data work for us”.

“These Forums are an unmatched opportunity for industry leaders to not only join the conversation about how today’s analytics tools help realize efficiencies, but gives them the ability to walk away with an understanding of what questions to ask next to incorporate the information they learned into their own environments,” noted Dr. Colegrove.

“There is little question that manufacturers understand the potential value of analytics,” said Peter Guilfoyle, Sr. Vice President of Marketing for Northwest Analytics. “Operations across industries stand to realize significant savings through better data analysis of the data they are already collecting," he added.

In addition to Dr. Colegrove, speakers at each Forum included individuals from Dow responsible for implementing EMI at sites around the world. The event also highlighted the specialty chemicals industry perspective from Jonathan Alexander at Albemarle Corporation. Alexander’s presentation was specifically geared toward the practical application of EMI, sharing numerous examples of before/after dashboards illustrating the ROI of their EMI implementation.
