Management Team

From 1980 to the present NWA has grown to become the market leader in the statistical process control (SPC) market, as evidenced by a customer base that now exceeds 5,000 companies, worldwide. An important driver of NWA’s success has been its dedicated and experienced management team that, on average, has been with the Company for fifteen years. The team combines backgrounds in manufacturing, technology, marketing and software development with experience working in the manufacturing, laboratory and statistical processing fields. These backgrounds have enabled NWA to develop and market new and innovative products while also growing the company profitability.

Clifford S.L. Yee, President, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Yee has served as NWA’s CEO since 1990. His experience working for both public and private companies, has given him a broad understanding of the financial, sales, operational and technology issues facing today’s manufacturing enterprises. Before joining NWA, Mr. Yee founded and was President of Advantage Technologies, an engineering firm providing systems integration for government related industries. Previous to working at Advantage Technologies Mr. Yee served as President and CEO of CADIC, Inc., a test and measurement electronics firm. Mr. Yee has also served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Chief Engineer for Schwitzer Household International and as a Project Engineer for General Electric. Mr. Yee holds an M.B.A. from Butler University and performed graduate studies at UCLA. He also holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan. Mr. Yee holds five U.S. Patents on engine cooling and was a recipient of the Center for Leadership Development’s Distinguished Award.

Louis K. Halvorsen, Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Halvorsen is responsible for overseeing the design, development and support of NWA’s software products, and manages the company's highly regarded technical support group. Since joining NWA in 1982, he has led the teams responsible for the development of NWA Quality Analyst, NWA Quality Monitor, the NWA Quality Analyst Web Server and other products. He has also assisted numerous NWA clients in developing strategies for the successful implementation of their manufacturing and quality information systems. Prior to joining NWA, Mr. Halvorsen held management and technical positions in the analytical instrumentation field and worked in research and quality control as an industrial chemist. He holds a B.S. from Oregon State University and is currently serving on the ISA S95 Standards Committee.

Philip Schreiber, Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Mr. Schreiber is responsible for NWA’s worldwide sales activities, including the NWA sales team, Value-Added Reseller channels, OEM partnering and alliances and market development activities. He brings a strong track record of success with his 15 years of experience in the manufacturing software industry. Most recently, Mr. Schreiber was a Practice Manager with the Information Solutions Business for Rockwell Automation. Previous to Rockwell, he was with Sequencia Corporation where he served as Global Director of Consulting Engineering Services. He also led the Systems Sales and Services efforts at R.S. Stover, and had responsibilities as a Corporate Design Engineer and Plant Maintenance Engineer with Dow Corning Corp. Mr. Schreiber graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He has worked with the World Batch Forum since its inception, and has co-authored articles and designed training courses on the application of ISA S88 and S95 Standards.

P. David Bundy, Consulting CFO
Mr. Bundy directs the business planning and finance activities at NWA. He has experience in both large and emerging growth technology companies, including 10 years in leading OrCAD, Inc. through multiple stages of growth and closing its initial public offering while serving as CFO. OrCAD sold its assets to Cadence Design Systems in 1999 and Mr. Bundy served as Vice President of Finance for the Cadence Systems Solutions Business. During his tenure at OrCAD the company grew from $8M to $48M in revenue. Mr. Bundy also served as Controller at CADIC, Inc. and with Burroughs Corporation. Mr. Bundy holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Oregon State University and an M.B.A. from Portland State University. He is an emeritus Board member of the Software Association of Oregon.

Jeffery L. Cawley, Founder, Vice President of Market Development
Mr. Cawley was a founder of NWA in 1980. Today, he oversees professional organization relations and collaborates with industry leaders to develop lectures and writings on applied SPC and its integration with large scale information systems. Before founding NWA he was Director of Marketing for Alpkem Corporation, an analytical instrumentation firm. Mr. Cawley holds B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Geology from Juniata College and did graduate work in Geochemistry at Princeton University. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, Association of Official Analytical Chemists, American Society of Quality and Institute for Food Technology. He was recently Chairman of the IFT Quality Assurance Division, has served on the AOAC Statistics Committee and contributed to the NEMI Factory Execution Systems Roadmap.

David L. Shearer, Technical Director
Mr. Shearer has been responsible for the technical integrity and performance of NWA software products since joining the company in 1984. His responsibilities include product design as well as development and verification of statistical and computational algorithms. Before joining NWA Mr. Shearer performed software support planning and developed product reliability prediction systems for Floating Point Systems. Previously, he developed large scale linear programming applications, quality control products and wood products simulation systems for Decision Dynamics. Mr. Shearer holds a B.S. in Forest Management from Oregon State University and an M.S. in Forest Economics from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality.
